The Writing Book 2014 compiles the selected thesis writing of the California College of the Arts MFA in writing students. During their time in the program, the students are required to take a letterpress class. Gold was inspired by this and designed a letterpress cover using secondary elements of typography (symbols and marks) that when applied to letters and numbers create the structure of sentences, paragraphs, pages, and books.

The clean interior allows for the student's writing to be front and center, with elements of the typographic pattern used sparingly.
