
RISD Enrollments
RISD was looking for a data visualization that would identify student trends and patterns in the growth of their student population. The data was mapped clockwise on a circular grid with the population variable growing out from the center. The result is reminiscent of a nautilus shell, reminding us that when formal properties are assigned to numeric data, patterns found in nature often appear. An iterative sketching process led to the final design for the data.
