California Light & Sound Collection (CL&S) is a partner of the California library system whose mission is to preserve California's historic audiovisual recordings. The logo mark developed is meant to capture a feeling of movement, referencing both film reels and sound waves. The colors suggest the warm glow of the California sunset.

A second logo was developed for California Audiovisual Preservation Project, a project within the CL&S. Since CL&S works with many library databases and social media outlets, they needed formats that varied in shape and could be read at large and small scales.
